July 2011

We headed back out to our stretch of highway on Sunday July 17th. We started at 8:30am to try and avoid the heat, but it was still there! Armed with water, our vests and our picker-uppers, we split up in 2 teams and cleaned up the whole stretch in an hour and a half!!! RECORD TIME!

We are planning to head back out in the Fall to do a final cleanup before Winter comes.

April 2011

We had another successful highway clean-up on Saturday April 30th! It was a beautiful day and we all had our vests on, bottles of water and our brand new garbage picker-uppers (which worked amazingly well until they broke!). We were amazed at the number of plastic bottles that were discarded along Highway 7 considering there are fewer and fewer people using them!

Our next clean up is scheduled for the end of July. We will probably need to go first thing in the morning to avoid the heat!

October 2010

On October 16, 2010 we took part in our first highway clean up. Armed with garbag
e bags, flash
y vests, gloves, a homemade garbage poker and even some salad tongs we spent 3 hours picking up litter! It was definitely hard work, nevertheless the 8 Markham Veterinary Clinic members present made it an enjoyable and team building experience.
