We put the patients first!

Kelly

Kelly

Veterinary Technician, Practice Manager

Growing up here in Markham, Kelly rescued stray cats, baby birds, squirrels, and even an ailing bat. She can’t remember a time when she didn’t love caring for the earth’s creatures. For her, a career in the animal care field simply makes sense: it allows her to pursue her love of science, advocate for those who don’t have a voice, and be around animals and their loving owners every day!

Kelly was first hired by Markham Veterinary Clinic as a part-time student employee in 1989. After attending Ridgetown College and graduating as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 1996, she continued working here as a Tech and has done so ever since. Kelly is now the Practice Manager and still works as a Veterinary Technician a few days a week.

Medically, Kelly is a big fan of dermatology work, and loves the challenge of diagnosing and treating complicated skin and ear conditions. She’s also passionate about client education, and finds that discussing proper pet care techniques with animal owners is the most satisfying part of her job.

When she’s not caring for the area’s pets here at the clinic, Kelly enjoys reading and listening to music. She lives just outside of Markham with her husband, their two beautiful daughters, and a fun-loving boxer named Dazey.

Lorraine

Lorraine

Registered Veterinary Technician

Lorraine has been passionate about animal care ever since she was young. As a Registered Veterinary Technician here at Markham Veterinary Clinic, she’s able to truly make a difference in the lives of pets every single day!

Lorraine grew up in a small town north of Markham, and began her studies in veterinary medicine right after high school. She graduated from Seneca College in 1996 and passed her exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. In December of 2002, after being referred by an acquaintance of hers, Lorraine joined the Markham Veterinary Clinic team and has been here ever since.

When she’s not at work, Lorraine enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the great outdoors on her rural property. She shares her home with Jade, an elderly Border collie, and her daughters’ guinea pig, Fudge.

Angie

Angie

Office Manager, Client Service Representative

Angie was always surrounded by her family pets while she was growing up in Scarborough; animals have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. After many years of working in another industry, Angie realized she wanted to pursue her true passion: caring for pets and compassionate animal owners just like herself!

Angie first came to Markham Veterinary Clinic when helping a friend—and a longtime client of Markham Veterinary Clinic’s—take her cat to the vet. Angie’s friend overheard that there was a position available for part-time work, and encouraged Angie to follow her animal-care dream and apply. In the spring of 2000, Angie joined the hospital family and has been happily serving the needs of pets and clients here ever since!

Around the clinic, Angie is responsible for everything from scheduling and payroll to human resources tasks and performance evaluations. She’s particularly fond her role in human resources, and loves organizing and scheduling to best meet the needs of her fellow staff members, the clinic’s clients, and pet owners’ beloved animal companions. Most of all, Angie loves being a part of a team that provides life-long support and education to pet parents.

At home, Angie lives with her husband, their youngest daughter, a dog and a kitten. Prince is a 4 year old Lab X Husky, who is incredibly social, he loves the dog park and laying in the front window to watch the neighbourhood. Prince is now a big brother to a little kitten named T’Challa, after Marvels Black Panther. T’Challa is a fun and playful kitten, who has brought much joy to the Duff household!

Holly

Holly

Client Service Representative

Holly fondly recalls the day she found a kitten under the steps of her porch. She and a friend lured it out, brought it inside and gave it a blanket to keep warm. Then she called the wildlife organization to make sure the cat was in great hands. Holly has been on a mission to help animals ever since. Today, as a client service representative at Markham Veterinary Clinic, she is able to spend her days helping the animals she loves so much!

There are several facets of being a staff member at Markham Veterinary Clinic that keep Holly happy. She enjoys meeting new kittens and puppies, and making their first visit to the clinic memorable. She also loves monitoring the progress that furry patients are making. Nothing makes her happier than witnessing a happy, healthy fur baby!

Holly was born in Scarborough and was raised in Markham, with her parents, brother and sister. She is extremely close with her family dog, Buddy, a 5-year old Maltipoo, who she loves taking on walks. He gets so excited whenever guests come over, that he races to the front door when he hears them coming! Holly’s other hobbies include reading (she’s always been a bookworm) and cooking meals for her family and friends.

Jessica

Jessica

Client Services Representative

Jessica grew up on a farm in Sarnia, Ontario, where she and her family kept everything from horses, cats, and dogs to turtles, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, and birds. It was through her mother’s guidance on animal care that Jessica learned about hard work, responsibility, and compassion—she gets to put those lessons to good use every day as a member of Markham Veterinary Clinic’s team!

Jessica spent several years in the customer service field before deciding to make the jump and pursue her lifelong passion: animal care. When the opportunity arose for her to join Markham Veterinary Clinic’s client relations team, she didn’t hesitate—Jessica is thrilled to use her customer-care background to better the lives of pets and their owners every day. She’s been a member of the clinic family since 2017.

Jessica lives in Oshawa with her husband, Bryan, and several pets. The couple has three cats—Mask, the cuddle-lover; shy Lydia; and the mischievous Voltron—as well as a pair of Border Collies named Monty and Sansa. Jessica also owns three Welsh ponies named Roxie, Sunny, and Loki, and regularly rides and shows them at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair! When she isn’t tending to the needs of pets here at the hospital or tending to her own companions at home, Jessica likes to relax with a good book or have friends over to indulge in a board game.

Kaley

Kaley

Veterinary Assistant

Like her colleagues, Kaley grew up with a passion for animals. That’s not the only reason she decided to enter the veterinary field, though. Being able to help an animal in need in turn brings happiness and joy to that pet’s owner. In this way, Kaley gets to make a difference in the lives of both people and pets.

Kaley’s journey began in grade 11, when she entered her high school’s co-op program and secured a place in a vet clinic where she spent a full semester before being officially hired. When the pandemic hit, Kaley decided to focus on her studies and enrolled at the University of Toronto, where she continues to pursue a double major in Biology and Mental Health Studies. She joined MVC in July 2021 and has quickly become a valued member of the team.

Clinically, Kaley particularly enjoys wrapping surgical materials because it allows her to contribute while also relaxing her mind. She also really loves getting our lodgers settled in because it gives her a chance to spend some one on one time with them and provide some tender love and care.

Outside of work, Kaley resides with her parents, her older brother and Coco, her beloved Maltese. Coco is a total attention hog who loves to do tricks and play hide and seek. At night, Coco has to sleep with at least one part of him touching Kaley – even if it’s a sweltering summer night.

Kaley’s personal interests heavily revolve around playing sports, something she’s been doing since age five and continues to do at university. Her hobbies include arts and crafts, and sleeping.

Kaelen

Kaelen

Veterinary Assistant

For as long as she can remember, Kaelen has always been passionate about three things: animals, science, and medicine. It wasn’t until she adopted her first dog, however, that she realized she wanted to turn those passions into a fulfilling career. As one of the assistants here at Markham Veterinary Clinic, Kaelen is thrilled to be doing what she loves every day, making a difference in the lives of pets.

While she initially thought she wanted to become a Genetic Therapist, Kaelen quickly realized that the patients she preferred were of the four-legged and furry variety. Following university, she enrolled in the veterinary assistant program at Seneca College, where she earned her certificate. She joined the MVC family in November of 2021 and quickly ingratiated herself with her colleagues, clients and patients. Kaelen’s favorite part of the job is assisting with surgery. She also has an interest in animal nutrition.

At home, Kaelen resides with her mother and their Fox Red Labrador Retriever, Ginger, who is extremely loving yet remarkably mischievous. When she’s not stealing blankets and towels, and then playing keep away from her owners, Ginger can usually be found sunbathing on the back deck.

Kaelen’s favorite pastimes include cuddling with Ginger, watching Anime, or curling up with a good book. An avid collector, Kaelen is running out of room for her anime memorabilia and books. She also likes to tap her active imagination by writing stories, typically of the fantasy genre.

Janice

Janice

Veterinary Assistant

Janice has always had an interest in science and a passion for animals (particularly horses). After finishing her sophomore year of high school in 2023, she landed a job at a veterinary clinic. Turns out, she found her niche!

As a veterinary assistant here at Markham Veterinary Clinic, Janice enjoys interacting with the animals and observing the vets and technicians as they deliver various treatments. Seeing a patient’s health improve is incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, Janice resides in Markham with her parents and two older siblings. The family has one dog: a golden retriever named Chloe, who is gentle and loves going on long walks. When she’s not busy with school or work, Janice enjoys going on runs with Chloe or spending time with her horse, Gryf.

Arianna

Arianna

Veterinary Assistant

Ari has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember. She recalls hours as a child spent playing pretend with Bobbie, her blue point Himalayan, or reading storybooks to Sammy, her chocolate point Siamese. Sharing this special bond with her kitties growing up made Ari want to do more for all of our furry friends. A career in vet med seemed the perfect fit!

After completing the veterinary assistant program at Seneca Polytechnic, Ari set out to find a clinic that would allow her to apply her passion for high quality animal care. She found exactly what she was looking for at MVC, and happily joined the team in June of 2024. Professionally, she has a special interest in assisting with surgery. She’s also particularly fond of “tuck-in time” for our lodging guests.

Outside of work, Ari’s got her hands full with her mischievous cat, Mushu, who was named after the dragon from the Disney movie Mulan (with whom he shares a similar attitude). Mushu is extremely food-motivated and knows several tricks, including paw, sit, lay down, and spin. When she’s not busy working or dealing with Mushu’s antics, Ari enjoys making jewelry and crafting rose bouquets out of silk ribbon.

Grace

Grace

Registered Veterinary Technician

From a young age, Grace has always had a passion for animal care and advocating for those who don’t have a voice. Starting with her very first pet, a Guinea pig named Brownie, to all the pets she has currently and even a few wild critters she’s encountered along the way, Grace has confirmed that working with animals is what she wants to spend her life doing.

Grace’s journey began in high school, when she completed a co-op placement right here at Markham Veterinary Clinic. Shortly thereafter, she was offered a job as a veterinary assistant. Upon graduating with high honours from Seneca’s Veterinary Technician program in 2023, Grace passed the national exam to become an RVT. Clinically, she has a special interest in anesthesia and dentistry.

At home, Grace has several pets of her own, including a golden retriever/poodle mix named Daisy a feisty calico named Callie; a talkative green cheeked conure named Henry; a sweet, goofy German shepherd named Penny; and a goldfish. In addition to animals, Grace’s other interests include snowboarding, hiking, boating, swimming, and going on adventures with her dogs.
