Markham Veterinary Clinic has a new community outreach initiative called the Be A Tree program. The program was created by Doggone Safe and is recognized by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association.
The presentation is geared towards children aged 5 to 10 years and it focuses their attention on dog safety and dog bite prevention.
We are pleased to have presented this program to over 500 Markham children in five different public schools thus far. We have also hosted Markham Brownie and Girl Guide groups in our clinic, and given them a clinic tour in addition to the dog safety presentation. The Be A Tree program uses flash cards and interactive games to help children learn about ways to read a dog’s demeanor and interact safely in various settings.
We are pleased to continue offering this community service because we care about the safety of our children and their pets.
