Angie was always surrounded by her family pets while she was growing up in Scarborough; animals have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. After many years of working in another industry, Angie realized she wanted to pursue her true passion: caring for pets and compassionate animal owners just like herself!

Angie first came to Markham Veterinary Clinic when helping a friend—and a longtime client of Markham Veterinary Clinic’s—take her cat to the vet. Angie’s friend overheard that there was a position available for part-time work, and encouraged Angie to follow her animal-care dream and apply. In the spring of 2000, Angie joined the hospital family and has been happily serving the needs of pets and clients here ever since!

Around the clinic, Angie is responsible for everything from scheduling and payroll to human resources tasks and performance evaluations. She’s particularly fond her role in human resources, and loves organizing and scheduling to best meet the needs of her fellow staff members, the clinic’s clients, and pet owners’ beloved animal companions. Most of all, Angie loves being a part of a team that provides life-long support and education to pet parents.

At home, Angie lives with her husband, their two daughters, and a laid-back cat named Hunter. Growing up with two girls in his domain, Hunter has had to put up with wearing outfits, sleeping in doll beds, and being carried around like a baby!

Ericka always felt a strong kinship with her family pets while growing up in Kitchener, Ontario—her Boxer puppy, Josie, made a permanent impression. She even told her parents that she would one day become an animal doctor! Ericka is thrilled to satisfy her love of biology, science, and animals by working in the veterinary world; she’s a member of the clinic’s Veterinary Assistant team.

Ericka first joined the Markham Veterinary Clinic family as a co-operative education student during her high school career. She enjoyed her time here so much that she decided to apply for a Veterinary Assistant position—the rest is history! Ericka has been a part of the hospital team since August of 2018, and hopes to continue her education to become a Veterinary Technician in the future. Around the clinic, she likes learning new things on a daily basis and getting to meet a wide variety of animal personalities.

Away from work, Ericka loves to paint and draw—her school even sold out of her t-shirt design when running a fundraiser!—and is also an avid volleyball player. Along with her parents and older brother, she lives with two adorable pets at home: Jaxon, a Great Dane who sleeps most of the day and then has bursts of energy in the evenings, and a cat named Henry who wakes Ericka up at 6:00 a.m. every day for breakfast.

Jamie was always inspired by the example of her grandparents, who rescued every stray or injured animal they came across—they saved stray dogs on the side of the road, abandoned kittens, and even a turtle with a cracked shell. Jamie’s grandparents taught her that no animal should ever be left behind, and that made a permanent impression on her. Ever since, she’s wanted to do everything in her power to help the earth’s creatures!

A Markham native, Jamie launched her veterinary journey when she started working at a local pet store. A few years later, she began walking and sitting animals in her neighborhood before joining a college program to study Veterinary Assistant work. It was through her schooling that she completed a cooperative career placement right here at Markham Veterinary Clinic; after Jamie’s requirements were finished, she was more than happy to accept a position! She’s been a member of the hospital family since March of 2018.

Jamie has a special interest in pet nutrition, and loves to see how proper diet can affect a patient’s overall health—she even earned a pet nutrition certificate through her collegiate studies! She’s also fond of soaking up knowledge from the clinic’s doctors and support staff. Most of all, Jamie loves being able to give pet owners peace of mind through the power of veterinary care.

At home, Jamie and her family share their lives with two dogs—Charles the Pug and a Yorkshire Terrier who goes by Bam Bam—as well as a pair of hairless Sphynx cats named Casper and Norman.

Jessica grew up on a farm in Sarnia, Ontario, where she and her family kept everything from horses, cats, and dogs to turtles, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, and birds. It was through her mother’s guidance on animal care that Jessica learned about hard work, responsibility, and compassion—she gets to put those lessons to good use every day as a member of Markham Veterinary Clinic’s team!

Jessica spent several years in the customer service field before deciding to make the jump and pursue her lifelong passion: animal care. When the opportunity arose for her to join Markham Veterinary Clinic’s client relations team, she didn’t hesitate—Jessica is thrilled to use her customer-care background to better the lives of pets and their owners every day. She’s been a member of the clinic family since 2017.

Jessica lives in Oshawa with her husband, Bryan, and several pets. The couple has three cats—Mask, the cuddle-lover; shy Lydia; and the mischievous Voltron—as well as a pair of Border Collies named Monty and Sansa. Jessica also owns three Welsh ponies named Roxie, Sunny, and Loki, and regularly rides and shows them at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair! When she isn’t tending to the needs of pets here at the hospital or tending to her own companions at home, Jessica likes to relax with a good book or have friends over to indulge in a board game.
Practice Manager, Veterinary Technician
Growing up here in Markham, Kelly rescued stray cats, baby birds, squirrels, and even an ailing bat. She can’t remember a time when she didn’t love caring for the earth’s creatures. For her, a career in the animal care field simply makes sense: it allows her to pursue her love of science, advocate for those who don’t have a voice, and be around animals and their loving owners every day!

Kelly was first hired by Markham Veterinary Clinic as a part-time student employee in 1989. After attending Ridgetown College and graduating as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 1996, she continued working here as a Tech and has done so ever since. Kelly is now the Practice Manager and still works as a Veterinary Technician a few days a week.

Medically, Kelly is a big fan of dermatology work, and loves the challenge of diagnosing and treating complicated skin and ear conditions. She’s also passionate about client education, and finds that discussing proper pet care techniques with animal owners is the most satisfying part of her job.

When she’s not caring for the area’s pets here at the clinic, Kelly enjoys reading and listening to music. She lives just outside of Markham with her husband, their two beautiful daughters, and a fun-loving boxer named Dazey.

In December of 2002, after being referred by an acquaintance of hers, Lorraine joined the Markham Veterinary Clinic team and has been here ever since.

When she’s not at work, Lorraine enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the great outdoors on her rural property. She shares her home with Jade, an elderly Border collie, and her daughters’ guinea pig, Fudge.
Veterinary Assistant
Sheila’s inspiration to help animals came from her mother, who rescued a neglected shepherd/collie mix named Scamp when Sheila was young. Seeing Scamp transform from an unkempt, malnourished animal to one of the most loving and faithful dogs that Sheila has ever known made a permanent impression! Ever since, she’s felt an innate compassion and respect for pets, and has always wanted to give something back. Now, Sheila gets to help animals daily as a Veterinary Assistant.

Sheila is a Markham native, and first started here at the hospital on a volunteer basis. She lent her time to the clinic for 15 wonderful years, and always found herself in awe of the warmth, skill, and compassion the hospital team showed to visiting pets and their owners. When the opportunity arose to become an employee herself, Sheila didn’t hesitate!

In her time away from work, Sheila enjoys spending time with her extended family around Markham, gardening, biking, reading, and going on long walks with her dog, Tugg.

Victoria recalls playing “veterinarian” with her sister when they were young, tending to stuffed animals and nursing them back to full health. She’s been passionate about animal care for as long as she can remember! Now, Victoria gets to do more than pretend: she cares for the area’s pets hands-on as one of Markham Veterinary Clinic’s Veterinary Assistants.

Victoria is a Markham native and first began serving here at the clinic as a co-op student during her junior year of high school. When the school year ended, she was offered a job!
