When we first saw Gryffin here at Markham Veterinary Clinic in July of 2011 he was timid and shy. He had just been adopted by his new family. Gryffin had not adapted well to shelter life and had 2 lick sores on his front legs and was underweight. He was scheduled to be euthanized by the shelter that Monday, so his new family took him to his new home on Sunday. He instantly bonded with them.
He was perfectly behaved in the house, but also exhibited peculiar obsessive traits that come with being a border collie and from being under socialized and fearful. He requires the same routine when getting ready for walks, and making sure the furniture isn’t out of place. Griffin’s family was committed to providing him with a nurturing environment and sought out assistance from 2 local dog trainers.
Some of Gryffin’s favourite activities include going for walks on his leash, snuggling, doing agility drills and perching on stairs that his Aunt Joan built for him and patrolling his yard to protect it from invading squirrels! His favorite toy is a red Kong bone.
With help from his trainers and devoted family he was come a long way since his first visit here with us! His friends at Markham Veterinary Clinic are so proud of both the family and Gryffin for the awesome hard work they have done.
