Pet of the Month – Sammy

Sammy is a beautiful 5-year-old Golden retriever who came to see us at Markham Veterinary Clinic for an emergency visit. Like many dogs, she was an opportunist and got into some plastic packaging when her owner wasn’t looking! Dogs like to explore the world with their mouths and plastic packaging often smells appealing like food. Thankfully, Sammy’s owner caught the incident early and contacted our clinic for help. Because of her quick response, we were able to safely induce vomiting and retrieved the plastic packaging in multiple pieces. Sammy recovered normally.

Accidents can happen, even in the most careful homes. What made a difference in this case was the owner’s quick action and prompt veterinary care. If you’re ever unsure, it’s always better to call and ask – no question is too small when it comes to your pet’s health.
